2016 Kia Sportage AWD Earns Five-Star Crash Rating

The 2016 Kia Sportage equipped with All Wheel Drive has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Five-Star Crash Test Rating. This comes directly from the federal government, and it's the top score any vehicle can achieve for safety. Along with its top overall score, the Sportage also earned perfect scores in tests for front and side crashes.

For its front crash test, the Sportage used a male and female driver and passenger to simulate what happens in a front end collision at 35 MPG. Injuries to the dummy's head, neck, chest and legs are evaluated to determine this score. The driver was given a perfect five-star score after the NHTSA evaluations.

For side crashes, NHTSA does the same male and female simulation, this time testing what happens when hitting a barrier or pole at the vehicle's side. For both male and female drivers and passengers, NHTSA scores the Sportage with the top five-star score.

NHTSA reports no safety issues such as recalls, investigations, complaints or service bulletins.

The Sportage comes with great safety options like a rearview camera, hands-free Bluetooth and texting capabilities, front active headrests and of course the All Wheel Drive that's great on ice and snow.
