2017 Kia Sportage Review

The 2017 Kia Sportage is unlike anything you've seen before. Its rugged new platform stands out in a crowd of boring midsized SUVs, and one trip in the Sportage will have you dreaming of taking this Sportage on a weekend adventure. Plus this year's Sportage includes upgrade technology, new safety options and improvements everywhere that make this a more fun SUV overall.

New Design

In the last ten years, Kia became one of the most popular manufacturers on the road today because they weren't afraid to take risks. When everyone else was rolling out, dull, cookie cutter choices, Kia introduced cars everyone else rushed to copy. They've done it again with the 2017 Kia Sportage, perhaps the most innovative design you'll find at any dealership nationwide.

It starts right up front with that new wide open front grille and new  thin, elongated headlights that stretch elegantly into the body.

Kia is calling the Sportage "unconventional by design," offering an almost coupe-like sloped roof, more chrome accents everywhere and a bolder, wide wheel base. Horizontally angled sculpted lines contribute to bold, sporty character of your Sportage, and a new wheel design is love at first sight.

Upgraded Interior

As you climb inside the new Sportage, you'll find premium craftsmanship, soft touch materials and an interior designed with safety and logic in mind.

Whether you choose between cloth or leather seats, Kia uses more high-end materials and luxury and a lower price. Instead of generic, cheap plastic materials, Kia has installed more soft-touch material on the door and dash, giving you a comfortable ride that impresses your friends.

Kia calls the interior design "driver-oriented," with seats that emphasize commuting comfort. All buttons are located so it’s easy for the driver to safely reach them. The text is big bold and easy to read, and a quick-response touch screen is better than ever.

This year's Sportage features more cargo space than the outgoing model. With the seats folded down on the 60:40 rear bench seat, you can easily fit a kayak, surfboard, golf clubs, luggage or whatever you need for the next outdoor adventure.

Improved Ride Quality

The 2017 Kia Sportage is more than a pretty face. There are thousands of unseen improvements you won't notice until your first test drive. A new Iso-Structure body style delivers rigid handling and reduces the impact on a bumpy road.

Improved material and extended body insulation make this the quietest Sportage ever. Other mechanical improvements help improve ride quality and fuel economy.

The Sportage is offered with Dynamax all-wheel drive, a new and improved all wheel drive system that senses road conditions and adjusts traction requirements on all roads and weather conditions. You never know what you're going to encounter when traveling around Northeast Ohio, and this intuitive all wheel drive system serves as your best friend when the road gets rough.

Under the hood, a standard 2.4L engine produces 180 horsepower and up to 30 highway MPG. Or upgrade to the 2.0L Turbo GDI engine that maximizes at 240 horsepower for a bold, confident ride you don't usually find an SUV.

Tech Marvel

The Sportage is a tech marvel with all the available technology of the modern vehicle. The optional UVO eServices system includes either a 7-inch or 8-inch tourchscreen with access to hands-free calling, navigation, music or much more. So simply tell the Sportage to play the Spice Girls, and your SUV becomes a 90's party on wheels.

Get access to apps like Yelp, Pandora, Facebook and more, and you make reservations, find out sports scores or check the stock market safely from behind the wheels.

You'll also the optional hands-free liftgate. Let's say you've been out on the lake all morning, and you're carrying your equipment back to the car. Instead of fumbling around trying to find your keys to open the trunk, a sensor located in the key fob will activate the trunk and open it remotely.

It's not just fun and games with the new Sportage. All the latest safety technology is optional in your new Sportage, starting with Autonomous Emergency Braking. Sensors in front of the vehicle detect stopped traffic ahead of you. If it senses danger ahead, the Sportage will automatically slow down to try and prevent a collision from happening.

It continues with safety technology like lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and parking assist features that make street parking easier than ever.

Get your Sportage in seven exterior color options and four separate color and fabric interior choices. And every new Kia sold at Waikem comes with a 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
